We are two professional string players who teach full time in Johns Creek. If your sections need outside ears this year, we are glad to come to you.
Most directors we work with want one of two things: a section that has plateaued and needs focused time, or a set of students getting ready to audition. We do both, and we work around your schedule rather than asking you to work around ours.
Four ways we usually help.
Sectional coaching
We take a violin, viola, or cello section during your class period or after school and work the passages that are not locking in. Shifting, intonation, bow distribution, rhythmic ensemble. You keep teaching the full group; we take the section that needs the time.
Full-day clinics
A full school day rotating through your orchestras, or a single deep session with your top ensemble ahead of a concert or LGPE. Useful when you want fresh ears on the whole program rather than one section.
Audition preparation
All-State, District Honor Orchestra, Solo & Ensemble, and seating auditions. Individually or in small groups, working the required excerpts, scales, and sight-reading the way the panel will hear them.
Masterclasses and performance
A short recital for your class followed by open coaching, or a masterclass format with two or three students playing for the group. A good fit for the week before a concert, or for recruiting at a feeder-school visit.
Working players, not just teachers.
Your students hear the difference when the person coaching them still plays for a living.
Matthew Eeuwes
Violin & viola
Matthew plays regularly with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and is a former Assistant Principal Viola of The Florida Orchestra and a former member of the Rochester Philharmonic. He holds a bachelor’s in violin and a master’s in viola from the Eastman School of Music, and has taught privately for fifteen years.
Yen Eeuwes
Violin & piano
Yen earned a bachelor’s in violin from the Eastman School of Music and a master’s from Rice University’s Shepherd School of Music on full scholarship. She has performed at Carnegie Hall, the United Nations, and the Woodruff Arts Center, and grew up in Alpharetta.
The practical details.
Where we travel
We are based in Johns Creek and visit schools in Johns Creek, Alpharetta, Milton, Roswell, Duluth, Suwanee, Peachtree Corners, and Norcross. If you are outside that area it is worth asking, but we keep our school visits close so we can get to you during the teaching day.
Rates
Sent on request. Rates depend on whether you want one coach or two, a single section or a full day, so it is easier to quote once we know what you have in mind. Booster-funded and district purchase-order work are both fine.
Paperwork
We can provide a W-9 and whatever your district needs to set us up as a vendor. Say the word and we will send it along with the quote so nothing waits on paperwork.
Private teacher lists
If your program keeps a list of private teachers for families, we would be glad to be on it. We teach violin, viola, and piano in Johns Creek, from beginners through audition preparation, and we offer a free fifteen-minute meet-and-greet so a family can try us with no commitment.
